Job Description
This position will serve as Team Lead and responsible for creating, seeking approval and disseminating comprehensive credit, investment and operational risk management policies, incorporating clear roles, responsibilities, limits, escalations and approval authorities. The Director of Risk Governance will also be responsible for adapting risk policies to changes in Russell's business over time and provides a shared service for Chief Risk Officer (or other Investment Risk management lead), Chief Credit Officer, and Operational Risk Head, who provide some content.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

Policy development.

Policy vetting and approval.

Policy maintenance: adapting existing policy to market or management change, or because improvements are needed.

Administering decision bodies/committees.

Special projects.

People management, though the role does not currently have direct management responsibility.


Requirements
The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree, CFA or CRM certifications preferred.

10+ years experience with a broad knowledge of the credit, investment and operational risks inherent in an asset management company; ideally, lengthy experience at Russell investments.

Proven knowledge of the regulatory requirements for asset managers in Russell's space, typical investment guidelines, as well as the typical expectations of institutional and private clients with respect to risk.

Knowledge of, and ability to design, governance of risk management, including levels of authority appropriate to different activities, which activities should be approved by individuals vs. escalated to committees.

Understanding of key credit, concentration, liquidity, market and operational risk measures, controls; their strengths, limitations and use in limit frameworks.

Project management skills.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Ability to influence and lead within the Global Risk group, and across Russell globally.

Keen sense of what steps are required to gather appropriate feedback and establish buy-in.

Strong sense of priority and sequence in rolling out policy environment.

Demonstrated design ability; the rules created need to be as simple as possible while still creating control.

Strong collaboration ability within the Global Risk group, as a service provider to colleagues, and across Russell's full set of global businesses.
